Fairfax EntranceEakin Elementary School of Nashville, Tennessee offers academic achievement and abundant socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, and international diversity in the setting of a historic neighborhood school. Eakin community includes students and families from our zone population as well as 35% attending by virtue of an out-of-zone lottery that live throughout Davidson County.

A k-4 elementary school, Eakin, has a student population of 475. Students attend classes 180 days per year from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The average class size in Kindergarten is 20, in First grade is 20, Second grade is 20, in Third grade is 19, and in Fourth grade is 22. The 2007-08 the per pupil expenditure is developed in conjunction with the principal and the Faculty Advisory Committee. Since  Eakin's school operates under participatory leadership, that body also determines how school funds are spent. In addition to the traditional curriculum, Eakin offers enrichment classes for gifted and talented students (Encore/ GATE), classes for special needs students, Technology class in a computer lab, Chinese language and culture, Art , Music, and Physical Education classes.
Following the regular school day, the Metro Community Education program offers students additional learning experiences in literacy club, dance classes, tae kwon do and the visual/ performing arts. The Eakin PTO sponsors after school math tutoring for selected students, science camps and chess club.All of these programs promote the development of social skills and leadership while enabling students to pursue and explore a wide variety of interests. Many times, Eakin teachers facilitate these classes, but community expertise is also utilized.
